10 Cool Job Hunting Commandments

Stumbled upon a nice article shared by a user named "qanda" on nairaland. Decided to share here:

The Ten (10) Job Hunter Commandments

Dear Job Hunter, it does not matter the number of job applications you have submitted. It does not matter the number of Job tests you have written and Job interviews you have attended. If you follow the information contained in this article, have belief in God and yourself, you will land your dream Job sooner than later.

1. Thou Shall have a Career Goal
It is common to hear Job seekers say “I want just any job, I am tired of doing nothing, any……”. It is important that you have a Career goal in mind. You should have definite job positions and roles you want to play in the organisations you’d like to work with. You may consider matching your interest with your skills and abilities.

There are many young men and women who desire to work with the best companies in the world but do not make any effort to find out what it takes to work with them. Yet this information is available on their website. For instance, some companies employ sales rep who are bilingual. Visit the website of the organisations you wish to work for and also do a research on the skills required for the job role.

2. Thou Shall ensure that your CV is error Free and tailored for the Application
Some graduates do not know what a Curriculum Vitae (CV) is, needless to say have one. Some will just get a sample from a friend; duplicate it, including the errors made by their friends and do not show the CV to anyone for proof reading. This is the reason why some individuals are never invited for Job interviews. Recruiters weed out CVs with unforgivable typo errors.

When submitting your CV for a Job opportunity ensure it is in the requested format (Microsoft Office Word or pdf), if the CV format type is not stated, submit it as a pdf file, this is to ensure the integrity of the document.

3. Thou Shall Scan your Academic Credentials and Upload them to your Email
When required to submit your CV and Academic Credentials for a Job opportunity online, how quickly can you respond with the required information? A rule of thumb is that you should scan and upload your Academic Credentials to your email address for safe keeping and easy reach.

4. Thou Shall Apply for Job openings of Interest
Sources of getting job openings include Newspaper, Job Portals – some of them include , Afterschoolafrica.com, jobgurus.com, pushcv.com, ngcareers.com, , jobrapido.com etc you should be on the lookout for Job opportunities of interest and apply for them.

5. Thou Shall access your Mailbox regularly
If you have a Gmail account, we recommend you include it on your CV and choose it ahead of the other email providers. We have found Gmail to be more dependable than the other email service providers. As a job seeker, it is important for you to check your inbox and Spam folder regularly. Sometimes job invitations drop in the Spam mailbox. It is also important that you keep your email address ‘neat’ and decent. Avoid emails like segunforlove@gmail.com, simply use your name eg tundefemi@xmail.com

When you receive invitation for job test or interviews, ensure to read the instruction carefully. Don’t be like the job hunter who appeared for a Job Test at Lagos Cham City venue instead of Abuja. He chose Lagos as preferred test center during the Job application and assumed his test center will be Lagos.

Don’t wait until the last minute to prepare the document you are required to present at the Job test/Interview venue. These documents may include Identity Card, Writing materials, Invitation Print out, CV, Photocopies of Credentials etc

6. Thou Shall Prepare a Cover Letter for every application
Sometimes, recruiters consider the application of Job seekers who submit a Cover Letter alongside their CV before the other CVs submitted without a Cover Letter. A Cover Letter gives you an opportunity to make a strong impression that you are fit for the Job.

7. Thou Shall Prepare for Job Interviews
It is important that you prepare adequately for all Job interviews. When invited for an interview, do your home work! Read the profile of the company Directors, Find out the Company history, services, vision, Core Values, Mission, Culture, Salary range etc Being properly dressed for an interview is equally important.

8. Thou Shall find ways to improve on your Skills and Consider Volunteer opportunities
Your skillset is a key metrics with which a potential employer measures your value. Ensure that you consciously commit to improving your skills particularly those ones required for your dream Job. Also consider supporting causes that require you to volunteer. Your potential employer is likely looking out for Candidates who take initiatives and are responsible.

9. Thou Shall build your Confidence, Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Many applicants experience some fright on their first interview. One way to boost your confidence quotient is to be prepared for the interview and to have a mindset that the company needs you to achieve their organization goal, they need you as much as you need them, therefore keep your calm and see the process as a negotiation process, you are there to show them that you are the right person for the job whilst looking out if they are also good enough to have you.

Interpersonal Skills means how you get along with others, how you communicate and interact with them. It is an important skill to have; it is particularly useful for networking. You can try meeting at least one new person every week.

It is good to be pleasant to the people you meet on a daily basis. You cannot tell where and when they will be of help to you. Not minding the commandments documented in this article, you may just secure your dream job by a referral from an individual that you met in the cause of your daily routine. Put your best foot forward at every opportunity and be nice to everyone you meet!

10. Thou Shall be prepared to take your dream opportunity
As mentioned in the opening Commandment, do not leave anything to Chance. Prepare as if landing your dream Job depends entirely on you, pray as if it depends entirely on God and have a positive mindset.

It is important that you get familiar with and practice Job Test questions. These test types include Verbal, Inductive, Numerical and Quantitative Reasoning. These resources are available for download at very affordable price on Q and A App. Don’t be like some unprepared job hunters who discover job test examination format on the queue for the exam. Be Prepared!

Before you land that dream job, do not be idle, where applicable, prepare and sit for relevant Certification Courses that will give you an edge over other candidates and present you as most qualified candidate for your dream Job

Interpret Your Reality Positively

interpret your reality positively

A whole lot of people are still trapped living the life that they don't desire because they keep interpreting their realities the wrong way. If you are a person used to interpreting whatever happens to you from a negative perspective, it will be difficult for you to succeed.

We see more of what we pay attention to. This is a natural law whose effects are prevalent in today's world.

Take for example: Two people went for a job interview and the both of them fails. One of them interprets his failure to mean; "I'm not good enough. I am destined to fail. I am not intelligent enough to pass such an interview." Or even things like; "I knew there was no point going for the interview, they have already selected their candidates and  I was there for formality sake."

The second candidate on the other hand who also failed interpreted his situation this way; "Perhaps, this is not the right job for me and I had to fail it, so I get a chance for a bigger and more suitable job" or "I should have passed this interview, maybe I was meant to fail it, to better prepare myself for similar interviews to better opportunities tomorrow".

Who among the two candidates do you think is better positioned to take more positive actions that will lead to a greater opportunity tomorrow? Of course it's the second. A person who thinks like that won't see any situation as a bad situation. That person will grow irrespective of his or her experiences.

I don't want to dwell too much on this because hopefully I believe the example above gets the point across. What I just have to add is that there is no seemingly negative experience we face in life that something good cannot evolve from. But for us to see the good thing coming out of all the things we think are bad things, we have to learn how to see through those things.

If someone breaks up with you, it's not the end of the world. It could be that this person is not the right person to build your future with. Interpret it that way and move on. You can interpret it as: I need to work on myself for better relationships in future.. if you think the breakup was your fault. It's also a good way to look at it. But never should you interpret it to mean "Maybe I'm not good enough" "It's because I don't look good enough." "It's because I'm cursed .." etc These are dangerous perspectives that could rob you of your happiness and peace of mind. Why buy into them?

You may think that there are some things you cannot interpret positively. It's only a trick that your own mind plays on you, so you can accept negativity as the truth about yourself and your situation. And once you accept any negative thoughts as true, you begin to experience more and more of it. It becomes a vicious cycle.

There is good in the difficult times you may be facing now. Maybe you're facing it because you're destined for something greater in future which will need you to have the skills you're gaining from your painful situation. Maybe you need to learn patience and how to deal with people of different characters. Maybe you have to experience stuff, so you can get access to people and opportunities that could turn your life around. Interpret Your difficulties positively and you'll see your life transform.

When in doubt about how to interpret your situation, remember that what you see becomes the truth for your situation, so see the right things.
Bear this in mind and keep on winning!
Your Man,
Nigel.

My Inspiring Chess Story

personal chess story experience

At some point during my final year in school, I was really low on cash. My final year project really took a big chunk of my budget and my account was red.
.
I didn't know what to do. No help was coming from home and some other substantial money I was expecting from a reliable source was delayed for some reason.
.
I was just hoping for a miracle. I wouldn't classify myself as a student who was too religious. I am seldomly seen in church on other days apart from Sunday and the only exceptions were during some weekdays, when I was either going to the chapel to pray or for a meeting.
.
So, on one of those occasional days during my financial drought period, I was returning to my hostel and I ran into a fellow student. We greeted and he asked me if I wasn't aware of the chess competition that was currently on(because he knew I played chess). I told him I wasn't and he was surprised about that.
.
So he directed me to the venue and when I got there, I saw a number of people already playing. I made enquiries from one of the organizers and to my dismay, the registration was already closed. I wanted to leave immediately since there was obviously no point. But instinctively, I just decided to hang around and watch a few games then return.
.
As the games went on, I noticed a particular dude sitting alone at a board and he appeared to be impatiently waiting for someone. My guess was confirmed true when I heard one of the tournament hosts phoning someone and asking the person why he hasn't shown up. After the call, he went to meet to  his colleagues and told them that one of those who registered for the game said he was no longer interested.
.
They seemed worried about how to balance up things again. And just then the guy who I had made enquiries from told them that someone(me) had met him earlier wanting to register. So after brief consultations, they asked me to take a seat opposite the waiting guy. I still had to register with 500 naira; one of the last few bucks I was hanging on to.
.
This was my chance, I felt a strong urge to take it.. I had to take it. And the game began.
.
About 40 students registered and it was a series of different games. First round eliminated half of them, second round left 8 of us as a few withdrew. And a final knock out round left us down to 4 players through for the semifinals. We then had some extra time to prepare and come for the finals the next day.
.
During these games, I had noticed a particular guy who didn't lose a single game till he got to the finals. When I asked about him, I learnt he was a Post Graduate guy who was really good in chess.
.
I knew I was good too, but I was still prone to errors here and there during quick timed games. So, the way I had been qualifying was.. either I lost the first game and won the next two against my opponent or I won the first, lost the second and won the last. Rarely won two starting games in a row against an opponent. But I managed to keep qualifying.
.
That night before the finals.. I had revised my tactics/strategies, watched some videos and kept my eyes on the prize.. 10k would go a long way to sustain me while I wait for some support. So, I didn't want to lose.
.
The D day arrived ( Joseph Emeka Okoroafor was there to see it) and we played the semifinal games.. I qualified and went into the final.. and same did the Post Graduate guy. Somehow we hadn't met in the qualifying rounds till the finals. He had simply been the best so far.. getting there without losing a single game. Small me.. had been managing to qualify.
.
But the game had to be played nonetheless. Lots of students and chess enthusiasts gathered to watch the final game after the third place position was settled.
.
I was tense.. because I knew how good my opponent was. And honestly.. many people thought I didn't stand a chance. I could've thought so too given what I had seen, but I had to believe in my self. If I don't believe, who will? 🤷
.
Thankfully, we were given 15 mins time controls instead of the regular 5 mins.. so I had some good time to think.
.
Just as the game was about to start after I exchanged handshakes with my opponent. He smiled and asked me which color I'll like to play. Like damn.. In chess when you're asked by an opponent to choose which side to play.. it usually meant that your opponent was confident to play any side against you.
.
So I gladly chose white because as at then, my white game was stronger. But he had added to my nervousness by asking me to choose which side I wanted.
.
So the game commenced.. it was one game to decide the winner. It was a tough game as expected. I opened with the Bishop's opening. My most aggressive line. 😁 The guy played expertly. At a point, I felt I was losing because he had a good advantage. Then a strong idea came into my head.. I saw an opportunity to make a knight sacrifice to gain a very strong position of attack. It was a risky move, but my gut instinct was screaming out to me that I should play it.
.
If my opponent played anything asides from accepting that sac.. he was most likely to win because that move exposed my position. But I still played it after some considerations.
.
I pensively waited for his response. He giggled when I made that move.. like I had done something stupid.. And so he quickly captured the knight thinking it was free.
.
Then I smiled, because the path to victory became very clear after that. My next moves pinned down his queen, destabilized his defences and left his king helpless..
.
He was smart enough to resign rather than wait to get a clearer picture of what I had in mind and that was how I won that game. People around cheered in admiration at the sheer brilliancy of that knight sacrifice and I went home with 10k and a chessboard. The PG guy got 5k, while the second runner up got 2500.
.
At a time when I was wondering how to survive, God somehow provided 10k. And had I not listened to my gut, I for don hear am. I sold that board for 3k. And I was very okay until I finally got some financial help..
.
Morals of the story: Listen to your gut instinct, it's almost never wrong. Recognize your windows of opportunity. Never underestimate anybody.
Believe in yourself, even when things appear hopeless(anything can happen). Believe(faith) is what will inspire you to act in your best form.
.
Disclaimer: This post shouldn't inspire you to go into online betting o. A competition that you go into with some skills is a different ball game. Before your ticket cut. 🤣

A Wise Article On What It Means To Love

what it means to love

A lot of people are unhappy, because they are not experiencing love. They feel that nobody cares for them because of a few experiences they have had with terrible people and therefore they adopt this attitude of "me against the world". This attitude which is generalized to everyone still leaves them feeling unloved because they try to do everything for themselves.

This article by Kaosilisochukwu Nwizu Charles addresses this problem by really giving us all a sneak peek into what it means to love. The me against the world approach, though it seems to be working and will definitely get you results isn't actually the best approach to live. We are wired to love.. And no matter how hard we try to pretend that we can take care of ourselves without any other support, we really need love from others.

This article addresses the questions of: "why am I still unhappy?", "Why don't I receive as much love as I give?", "Why do I feel lonely or depressed?" "What is the best way to love?" etc.

Here's the article as written by him:

Every man deserves to be happy and happiness is what we strive for. What then is with life and all these complications?

We break away from friends because we need them, we become indifferent and we look away when all that beacons in us is to embrace, we beat our chest saying goodbye when we really mean to shed countless tears. Strength is now seen in letting go and not holding on.

Many of us have adopted different ideologies in living our lives so much so that we have lost ourselves. We always think of putting people away, most of whom have been major sources of happiness to us in the past.

The question is; does it really make you feel better? We say we are going to show care only to those who care for us, we're going to call only those who call us. If everyone makes such decisions, who then will be the first or should I say weakling? (strength now lies in letting go rather than holding on)We'd probably be walking around with our expensive phones having no one to talk to. A perfect example of - I think - of what Theresa would call virtual friendship.

What a sad life..... We bear burdens we could share because to us, no one cares about whatever we're going through so we smile when we mean to cry.

Ven. Arch Bishop Fulton Sheen in his book YOU tells us how God, who is the fullness of love has put a little part of His love in us and has kept greater part of it for himself so that we feel incomplete without Him. While we are still alive, we lack the fullness of this love because we have not possessed God.

Therefore possessing many fragments of this love is What God advised us when We asked us to love one another( Jn 13:34) In loving our neighbors we unite to our fragment, a number of other fragments so that we possess a portion larger than what we posses individually while we still live.

We love God because He loved us first(1 John 4:10, you can read the whole chapter) and God is almighty (Apoc 1:8). Why not be little gods(Ps 8:6) to others by loving them first. That is what stronger people should do(Rom 15:1).

So be the first to compliment whatever you like in someone if you want it to continue because you don't know how much they will value it, be the first to call whenever you feel the urge because it happens a lot of times that the person who suddenly came to your mind is also somewhere thinking of you; why not be the first? Pray for the success of those who are or were once your friends, because you don't know what is written on the next page of our stories.

*****************

That's the end. How did you feel after reading that? Did it inspire some good thoughts in you? Do you have something to add to it or share? You can leave a comment.

Thank you for reading. I hope you try to be the first to give this love. Yes, others may not reciprocate it, but if you keep at still being the first to express the love in you to those around you, you will get more love than you ever wanted.

Keep loving first, keep winning!

Your man,
Nigel.

5 Ways To Start A New Year

1. Thanksgiving
It is very important to thank God; the giver of life for the gift of life and for every good thing that He sent your way in the outgoing year. Appreciation opens the door for more to come through.
Be grateful for the good things that came your way the previous year and hope for better ones in the new year.

2. Review Your Year
If you don't know the cause of a problem you can't solve it adequately. There is a great need to do a proper year review; highlighting where you missed it and analysing your actions and reactions.
A lot of people don't take this seriously. You don't jump into the new year without taking an introspective look into your life the previous year. Remember, two steps forward, one step back.

3. Learn From The Past But Don't Live In It
After reviewing the year, you will gain the understanding on how and where your actions were futile. You will know with certainty the things and people in your life that are not adding any positivity to your being. You have to get rid of them, otherwise you will remain in a cycle of repeating mistakes.
If you want to progress, don't live in the past or else it will stop you from experiencing the new things that come with new year.

4. Plan For The New Year
Planning goes beyond writing down your intentions and visions on a sheet of paper. Planning starts with and ends in prayer. Isaiah 48:17" I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go" Planning will amount to little or nothing without direction. You need to approach the throne of Grace that God may give you divine direction.

5. Set Goals
What do you intend to achieve in the coming year? Break your plan down into goals backed up with actionable steps. Your goals should including the following;

* Kingdom Goals: This is where you set goals of what you will do for God in the coming year. It shouldn't always be what God will do for you. Remember the Bible says that the harvest is large but laborers are few. You can actually join the team of God's laborers and have a place in God's payroll.

* Personal Development Goals: This is where you set goals on how to improve yourself. You can take professional courses, learn new skills, read new books, etc These help to ensure that you don't go through the year with lots of new shoes and new bags but with the same old self year in year out.

In Conclusion, endeavor above all things to carry your goals back to God in prayer, also dedicating the year to Him and backing all your plans/goals with ACTIONS.

Wishing you a HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR..

Don't Run Away From Fear

don't run away from fear

Sometimes, the things you are afraid of are usually the things you have to face in order to grow. Those situations and tough decisions that make your heart beat faster out of fear are the situations that build you up to be stronger for your life's mission.

A lot of people have been conditioned to always run away from things that scare them and that's why many of them are yet to get to where they desire to be.

The most motivated and successful people in the world today are those who faced majority of their fears repeatedly and then mastered it to the point that they have become strong enough to face any challenge they may encounter in life.

The emotion of fear is not something we should always run away from. It is something that should make us very aware of ourselves and our situation. This awareness is something that forces us to think out of the box and make the best choices when it comes to the unexpected.

But when a man or woman keeps running away from these fears, they miss out on the awareness and development that such fears come with. They remain the same, trapped in their illusion of safety and "what will be will be."

These ones fail to see that the more they run away from their fears, the more powerful this fear gets. But if they had formed the habit of facing their fears, they would be mastering each fear one by one and the fears they mastered will have no power over them anymore because they can now handle it.

There are some moments in your life when you will feel very afraid when you are about to take or have taken a big decision. Sometimes, you feel that fear when you are doing something for the very first time.

You should remember that as long as the actions you are taking or decisions you have made came out of a deep urge to grow inside of you, you should not let these fears make you run from continuing with the decision or action.

The situations that make you afraid the most are the situations that you grow best from.
If you really want to get ahead in life, these fears must be embraced and seen as an indicator that you are about to grow and expand. It shouldn't make you move backwards.

Listen, most of the advice you'll receive from friends, family, loved ones and etc will be aimed at keeping you "safe" and just "comfortable". You'll get lots of unsolicited advice from people who will try to tell you why your fears are valid and why you have to step back and don't go ahead with a risky decision.

It's easy to listen to them and fall back to safety and comfort. But the questions are: Is safety and comfort all you really want? Do you want to be just like everyone else?Do you want to give up on your ideas and dreams and settle for the same thing everyone else is doing?

Or do you really hunger for something bigger than yourself? Do you hunger to develop yourself to your highest capacity? Do you hunger to distinguish yourself from the crowd and live a legacy for your generations yet unborn?

Then you have to shut off most of the noise from outside and just stick to your gut. Sometimes, you should listen to advice, but you have to look at the advice very well to be sure it's not originating from someone's emotions. Before taking any advice, it has to be backed up with solid and verifiable facts and not just about "safety and comfort".

Most times, if you really know what you're doing and what you want, then the number one person you should be listening to it yourself! And it should be your higher self. The lower self is what fills your head with all negative things that could happen if you should do something that you are afraid to do.

The higher self is the aspiring self. It is the self that makes you believe that you can do it and there is no challenge you cannot overcome.
Listening to the higher self irrespective of fears peddled by the lower self takes a lot of guts, fear and risk taking. It's not for the faint hearted and that's why the few who can stick with it are blessed with everything they want.

The point of my post is to inspire you to reconsider the things your heart deeply yearns for which you have been sweeping under the carpet because you have been afraid.

Challenge yourself to do the things you are afraid of. If you're a shy person, embarrass yourself as much as possible to overcome it. Of course you'll make mistakes and people will laugh at you. But it doesn't matter one bit.. because the goal is to master the fear of being embarrassed.

When you overcome that fear. Your being shy will disappear instantly. You'll not be afraid to be embarrassed anymore and you'll not be bothered about whether people will laugh at you or not. You'll be free from those fears because you went into it and you'll find in yourself a confident man or woman.

If you're afraid to speak in public, stand up whenever an opportunity comes up and say anything you like. It doesn't matter whether it makes sense or not. You are just building yourself and getting used to the stage. The more you do it.. the better you get.

The more fears you face, the better you get! And the particular fears you face repeatedly, you master them better.

You know why it's important you start facing these fears as soon as possible?
It's because the world only cares about the very best! When you embarrass yourself many times, learn and keep embarrassing yourself to the limit because you want to master your fears, you'll eventually master them and you become exceptionally good in what you do!

Then, nobody will remember the days of your struggle and when you were consistently doing the things you were afraid of. No one will remember how many times you felt embarrassed, scared and sad because you made a choice to keep facing your fears.

All they see will be the BEST! And they will all say GOOD about you! And the world will reward you with whatever you want because you have PROVED YOURSELF as one of the very best!

So consciously and repeatedly face your fears irrespective of what people may say or do. And you will keep soaring high like an eagle!

Keep Winning!

Keep Platforming

Hi guys,

Been a while away from this awesome blog.. 76 days to be precise! That's a long time, but I've got a lot going on recently in my life right now that I could barely even act on the inspiration to write. But nevertheless, no matter how many times I go offline, I will always strive to be back and write about my experiences and the life lessons that have guided me thus far.

These few months away from this blog really came with a lot of challenging tasks and opportunities in my life. The opportunities that have come my way and how they came to me still look like a miracle to me. But I know that most of the things I have written on this blog so far really helped to motivate me to see the reality of these things.

Everything I have so far experienced have still proven to me that your state of mind is very important when it comes to how far you go and the things you will experience. I have also come to realize something I call the hand of God in the grand scheme of things. Forgive me atheists and non-believers, my experiences(which I won't share here now) have given me proof of God's hand in designing the outcome of things and I ask you to still keep an open mind about his existence if you strongly discredit it.

More than ever, I am thoroughly convinced of this thing called faith. Having faith in anything is incredibly powerful. Faith literally moves mountains. It works like magic, but it really isn't. It is a supernatural key that shifts reality for those who thoroughly believe in their vision. So I want to encourage you to persistently hold onto your visions and dreams; the ones that you really really care about and be rest assured that you will see it come to pass.

Now, to what I was inspired to write today:
"Keep platforming"

keep platforming

In life, we have a lot of platforms around us. Cambridge dictionary defines platform as "a flat raised area or structure." So in other words, a platform moves you to a higher ground. It takes you up to a higher level. The most successful people in life are those who know how to leverage their platforms to move on the higher platforms. Platforming is a step by step process. You don't magically jump all the steps. You move up with one platform and that platform leads you to the next one.

What are your platforms?
Your platforms are those skills, talents and opportunities you have that can help you stand out or become a better person. If you have a talent or something that you are very good at doing more than everybody else, it is a platform! It is something that can take you up to higher ground if you know how to use it. But how can you use it when you aren't even aware of the platforms you have? Which brings us to the question: How do you identify your platforms?

Simply put, your platforms are those things you have access to which many other people don't have access to. When you think of it this way, you begin to recognize that there are platforms everywhere around you. Do you know that the people you know could be your platform? The people in your life could be the link to your higher ground, but how well are you relating with them and getting the required information or help from them?

It's not the people only, the way you do things, your attitude or little opportunities could be a platform. I know of a person who started as an uneducated cleaner in a company but later turned out to be one of the key staff in the company business and is working on completing his part-time degree. I learnt that what set him apart was his attitude in his work. When he worked as a cleaner, he put his mind into it, did it better than everyone else and was happy doing it. He didn't do it grudgingly. He did it with his heart and mind and this got him noticed. He was recommended as an entry level staff because of his dedication and from there.. he grew!

Working as a cleaner was his platform! He utilized that platform very well and that platform has moved him up to a higher ground.  Many cleaners have come and gone before him. Some would have been unhappy with the role and do it grudgingly cursing everyone inside of their hearts. Some didn't even realize that having the opportunity to work as a cleaner is a platform. For them, it was all about doing the work anyhow and getting paid. They were not aware they were in a platform!

Having the opportunity to go to school and get a college degree is a really big platform! These days I hear a lot of people complaining that their college degrees are a waste. Some even say that it is an ordinary piece of paper with no value and for some others, they feel that they have studied the wrong course in school and that explains their problem. But these people are only saying these things because they have not come to the full realization of the value of the platform with they have. And if you don't recognize the value of anything, it will actually be useless to you.

Having a college degree gives you access to lots of other platforms. You can virtually choose to venture into anything because you read and understand stuff on your own and there a lot of opportunities coming out everyday both within and outside your country which are actively looking for graduates like you. But because you are not aware of the platform you are on. You keep thinking that you have nothing and consequently, you will not see your opportunities when they show up.

Knowing how to play football, dance, sing, crack jokes, play chess, give advice  or do anything else is a platform! There are very successful people in the world who have attained fame and fortune doing these things. They saw that they were on a platform (individual talent recognition) and they kept platforming till they got to the top. You might say, "Dear Nigel, what are you talking about? I have tried many times to showcase my talents, but I have no sponsors and nobody is appreciating me." Or you could say "Nigel, what you're saying is crap! Those people had access to the best and some of them were very lucky to be born in advanced countries and had the right facilities opportunities and bla bla" However, if you look at your own environment with an open mind and you are not ready to make excuses, you will see that there are successful people in those fields who have passed through similar challenges as you and have made it!

After recognizing your platforms, make good use of them all. Show up at a talent show event. Volunteer to showcase your skills. Offer your best services for free sometimes and let people know about what you do. You have to keep doing something with your platforms. You don't do one thing and it ends.. you must keep on doing things whether successful or not.

And it is very important to point out that your platforms will lead you to higher platforms!
Just like the cleaner guy who is now among top level staff, the platforms around you are there to lead you to higher and higher platforms. If you keep at platforming and platforming very well, you will go higher and higher. it is from one level to a higher one. The platforms you utilize very well will give you experience, knowledge and skills which lead you to other platforms, those other platforms also contain the opportunity for you to gain skills which will lead to much higher platforms. It's a game of platforming where each level holds the golden key to unlocking other levels! But you have to pass through each level, gain the prerequisites you need to gain for a higher level, so you can move on. That's why it is important to not look down on any platform you may presently have, no matter how little. Because that "little platform" as you may call it, holds the key to unlocking the higher and higher platforms that are possible in your life.

Platforming is not beans. You don't platform at one spot and expect everything to be perfect. Platforming is an attitude. You must consistently platform. You must keep showing up and you must keep making use of every platform you find around you. There are thousands of reasons out there designed to make you quit, curse the system and stop platforming, then wait to die without achieving anything.. there are millions in fact! But practice the habit of finding that one reason or one person which will inspire you to keep platforming.

Platforming requires a high level of awareness. Look around you today and take an introspective look into your life. Recognize your platforms and make a conscious effort to make the best use of them given the time and the opportunity. Don't give the excuse that you have no platforms. Life has been designed in such a way that platforms are everywhere you may find yourself. If you say you have none, it means you have not recognized what God has placed under your nose. Look again and I pray you recognize, see and make good use of your platforms to success. And don't also make the excuse that your platform is not working out for you. Our platforms must eventually work out if we are persistent at constantly recognizing and utilizing them. Don't also forget the God factor.. maybe you just need a higher being to assist you.

Keep platforming and keep winning!

Until next time,

Your man,

Nigel.

PS: I'm sorry for 76 days off. It wasn't intentional. It just happened. lol.
